«Thoughts and dreams. Psychology and psychopathology of wartime. Modern challenges to the professional training and practice of psychotherapists»

On February 24, 2022, at five o’clock in the morning, the RF brutally invaded independent Ukraine, expecting to achieve a guaranteed victory in a matter of days. Two years later, Ukraine not only remains undefeated, but also confidently suppresses the invaders, liberating the captured lands.
During these two years, war has become our everyday life. This long way, with its innumerable losses and disasters, through the cold and darkness of a new, terrible winter, under the wail of sirens and the roar of explosions, we must go in order to win our freedom and help all those who have despaired and cannot cope with the psychological trauma they have suffered.

We believe that a space of open dialogue, capable of including a diversity of opinions and containing the weight of unbearable emotions, opens access to hidden resources and a new, deeper experience of community. The difficult years of the war reinforced this belief with direct practical experience.

Creating such a space is the main task of the International Online Conference “«Thoughts and dreams. Psychology and psychopathology of wartime. Modern challenges to the professional training and practice of psychotherapists»”, which will be held on February 23-25, 2024. We invite Ukrainian psychologists, psychiatrists and psychotherapists, as well as our Western colleagues and friends to participate in this event.

The war affected all of us – both military and civilian, those who are on the front lines and those who remain in the rear, those who found refuge in Western countries and those who live in the West providing Ukrainians with comprehensive assistance in our struggle. This international conference will provide an opportunity to exchange and reflect on the life and work experience gained during the war. But we also want to try and look into the post-war future.

What will peace be like after the war?

What will be the place of Ukraine and Ukrainians in the Europe of tomorrow?

What will be the tasks and challenges of psychotherapy in the world in which we find ourselves

Conference languages: Ukrainian, English. Ukrainian-English translation will be provided.

The conference program includes plenary, sectional and poster presentations, workshops, master classes and thematic discussions. You will be able to participate in a social dreaming matrix and in a large analytic group. Leading foreign and Ukrainian specialists will act as moderators and speakers.

We believe in Victory and Peace throughout the world!
